The Medway Food Innovation Centre (MFIC) is proud to highlight the wider impact of colleagues across the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), including recent contributions to global teaching and learning discussions.
On 19 May 2026, Dr Tonna Ashim Anyasi delivered a flash oral presentation at the Advance HE Inclusive Pedagogy Symposium, a leading international event focused on enhancing inclusive teaching practices in higher education. Titled “From transmission to participation: designing the delivery of food science and innovation modules that enhance postgraduate learning and capability”, the presentation explored how postgraduate education in food science can move beyond traditional lecture-based approaches. It emphasised more interactive, participatory methods that better equip students with the skills and confidence needed for real-world challenges. The session highlighted innovative approaches to teaching within food science and innovation, aligning closely with MFIC’s commitment to bridging education, research, and industry practice. While rooted in teaching, this work reflected the broader MFIC ethos - developing future talent and ensuring that learning is closely connected to the evolving needs of the agri-food sector.
